Re: Meet Flurry!
Update on Flurry!
After having a few days to settle, I’ve begun taming. She’s very cage aggressive but we’re working on it slowly. When she notices my hands in her cage, she runs towards them and repeatedly bites hard enough to draw blood. The last time I interacted with her, she didn’t bite as aggressively though. I know it’s not much progress but I’m proud of her!
I’ve briefly had her out of the cage once and she was completely fine with my hands and behaved like any other curious little hamster for the first few minutes. After about 5 minutes, she started to get very stressed and anxious so I put her back in her cage.
Because she’s so easily stressed, I’ll be going very slowly with taming (no more than 5 - 10 minutes each day), she’s already making small amounts of progress in both taming and overall behaviour but even if she’s never fully tame, all that really matters is that she’s safe and happy.

Re: Meet Flurry!
Congratulations alpacassei! This is such good news!!! Lucky little hammy! Can't wait to see a photo of the little pom-pom! I only did very short sessions with Hesper as she was so skittish and it seemed like no progress for weeks but she's suddenly come around. Good luck with Flurry! Very happy for you both!

Re: Meet Flurry!
Congrats on adopting dear Flurry! It is so wonderful that she is now under your loving care; hopefully, she will continue to settle in more and gain her confidence and trust soon. She is very, VERY lucky to have found you. I definitely think it is good that her taming sessions remain short but consistent so she can slowly acclimate herself to human interaction. I'm sure she will be able to finally have her calmer self shine through since she has such a loving, patient, and knowledgeable ham-parent as you. Best wishes to you both. I will look forward to keeping up with the updates and any pics that you are able to share.

Re: Meet Flurry!
Flurry Update! We’re still working on cage agression but her general in-cage behaviour is getting more and more confident! My new millet sprays arrived today so I added some to her cage and she got to work foraging and nibbling! It was so cute!!
She’s becoming more confident out of the cage but still gets stressed if she’s out for longer than 5 - 10 minutes.
I finally took a photo of her, isn’t she just the cutest?? Like a tiny fluffy pompom snowball!!

It’s nice to see a pic of her, she’s a little beauty! Sounds like she’s settling in well and enjoying her surroundings.
