Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
I'm so sorry to hear that Bobby "Three Legs" had an injured paw and was given to RSPA by his owner. I'm sure that must be heartbreaking for both you and your neighbor. I will be praying that Bobby's injury is completely healed, and he finds a wonderful, loving home again. Hopefully, you will have an opportunity to see one another again someday, too - fingers crossed. I'm also sad to hear that Pebbles also had a problem with health, but I am relieved all is well with her now. Hugs to you!
Aww, I just love Mabel's adorable pics! She looks so cute and lovely in all of them. I love her new stripe, too. She's such a beauty and has the sweetest, little face. I can just imagine her saying, "I'm not a little fat; I'm just a little extra fluffy. I'm just ensuring that there is a little extra of me to love on. Now where is my sunflower seeds?" Lol.

I’m so sorry to hear about Bobby. It must be so hard to you and his owner. I’m hoping his leg will be healed soon. Hugs. xx

Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
I'm sorry about Three legs Bobby being given to the rspca. They will fix him and find him a suitable loving home.
Poor Mabel on a diet, such pretty pics as always.

Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
Hi everyone, thank you all for your comments they've really helped a lot.
I got home this morning a Mabel was asleep on her wheel. I guess she's really working hard on working off all the extra "Fluff"! She's stared to make burrows everywhere in her cage - she reminds me a lot of Misty who was my first ever hamster (If you couldn't guess by my user name ) they have the same shy but still really friendly and cute personalities.
I'm a little worried about Mabel's teeth, she has chews in her cage but she won't use them. I've even gotten her a dog chew but I don't think she knows what to do with it? I've tried every different type of chew I can find but apparently they're just not good enough for her. I've tried putting the chews in with her food to make them smell nice and she just tried to flip them over when I put them back in her cage, I think she could smell the food on them and thought that I'd hidden the food under the chew!

Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
I wouldn't worry about her not using the chews, they don't actually need them if they have a good diet then their teeth will wear down naturally anyway.
Which dog chew did you get was is a whimzee?

Such a lovely sight when they fall asleep on the wheel, Good to hear Miss Mabel's taking her exercise seriously.

Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
I don't know what to put here i'm really confused about a hour ago I went to check on Mabel because I was meant to be sleeping out tonight so I was going to feed her and give her fresh water. Usually when I make even the smallest noise like putting food in her bowl or moving some bedding she immediately comes out of her den. So I was was worried and I decided to check on her and I found her completely cold.. I'd seen people on facebook talking about hamsters going into hibernation because of the cold and even though I keep my room warm for her I thought maybe that she'd just gotten too cold and gone into hibernation. Unfortunately as soon as I picked her up I could tell straight away that Mabel had passed away.
She was just curled up in her burrow. The last time I saw her properly was last night when I put her back in her cage after play time. I'm so confused and upset and I feel beyond guilty. I thought she was healthy, maybe a little over weight but nothing dramatic. She was eating, drinking and playing like she usually did... I don't understand. I feel so guilty, she was only a few weeks old and she should be alive so it's obviously something that I've done wrong and I feel like the worst person ever.
There was no fresh food in her cage that could have gone bad. There wasn't anywhere she could have fallen from and hurt herself. She had clean food and water and lots of bedding. I don't understand what happened to her, I think I still haven't completely registered what's happened, I wasn't expecting to find her dead and I haven't been able to stop crying. It's night time now, so I'll have to wait until the morning to bury her. I'm so completely heartbroken and I don't know what to say. I feel terrible.
Rest in Peace Mabel <3

Re: ~Little Miss Mabel's Thread!~
I'm so very sorry, it must have been such a shock for you & it's totally heart breaking to lose a ham so suddenly & so young.
You couldn't have known if she was acting normally the last time you saw her, with hams this young if this happens it's usually some congenital weakness that you can't know about, I know it's only natural to blame yourself & try to think of what you might have done wrong but this wasn't your fault.
Try to take comfort knowing you made her short life as happy & full of love as you could, you could never have done more than that.
Run free & play well at the bridge little Mabel.
