Aww! such lovely photos of Treacle, she really did a good job on that alligator lol!
Good to hear how well you have bonded together, she does sound like a real sweetheart & a lot of fun too.
They can be quite vocal & it always makes me smile to hear their little noises, her various nests & the guessing game with where she will emerge reminds of my Mickle.
I think you covered most of the treats that I give mine except the odd one like cucumber seeds that you can't get in the Uk, I would add hemp seeds to the list & a millet spray now & then is usually really enjoyed too. Dried shrimps also go down well with most, lower in fat than mealworms so you can be a bit more generous!

What a sweet little darling Treacle seems to be! And very lucky to be adopted and given a lovely home by you. Looking forward to seeing more of her!

Aww! How cute! She did really well on that Whimzee! I’m enjoying hearing about her and I love her lip!
Like cypher said, dried shrimp is always a favorite with hams! It is high in protein like mealworms and is lower in fat. My past WW, Comet, loved shrimp!

Thank You cypher, astrid and Sasha04 - Treacle has made light work of her alligator! It lovely that we formed a special bond so quickly and it so lovely that she doesn't bite (like Honey and Caramel used to) - although she does lightly nip me when she want to go back in her cage. Also I appreciate the suggestion might have to try to find so dried shrimp - my only concern is that does it smell fishy? I forgot to mention in my last post that Treacle isn't a fan of millet.

My Little Attention Seeker

Treacle although so small she is a big attention seeker. When I decided it would be best to move Liquorice cage to where I initially had Treacle it meant that Treacle needed to be moved – so now she right beside my bed and she couldn’t be happier. She was demanding treat and attention right up until I went to bed and this morning I woke up to her demanding attention.

Whenever I’m taming Liquorice I often her Treacle awake although I don’t think she best pleased that another hamster is getting the attention which she wants – especially knowing that she is also getting treats when she isn’t.
Treacle’s cage make it difficult for me to take many photo of her but I managed today – I could hear her up eating some seeds so managed to get some adorable photos of Treacle being Treacle! Plus a photo of her scratching her nose whilst sitting in her new wheel – which she absolutely loving – I swear that her and Liquorice are having races at night. I am really enjoying having two hamsters in my bedroom – although I say my bedroom more like my Treacle’s and Liquorice’s Room which I also sleep in!

Plus I have also adjusted my signature so now both Treacle and Liquorice are on it and Maple has been moved to the right with her halo on.

Here are some adorable photo of Treacle …

Aww bless her wanting all the attention she really is so sweet, love the photos of her, especially the one in her wheel!

The dried shrimps don't really smell fishy, much the same as mealworms but a bit worse!

Treacle is lovely. She may like linseed (brown or golden), chi, poppy seeds or sesame seeds. My Russian hybrid and robo like these. I get them from the cooking section or fruit and veg section in my local super market.

Thank you Serendipty7000, cypher, Sasha04 and CMB. Today I have some spare time in my busy schedule to update you all on Treacle (plus Liquorice on her own thread). Where do you get your dried shrimp from? I tried getting some for Treacle from p@h in their wild bird bug mix but they only had the very large bags available – with the smaller bags out of stock.

Treacle’s Cage Makeover – September 2018

This Monday I have Treacle’s cage a makeover as it was looking a little messy plus wanted to move her wheel so I could see her running at night when I have my red light on from my bed. Plus I had some new things I wanted to add into her cage including a cork tunnel (initially bought from Zooplus to give to Liquorice however it was the perfect dwarf size so Treacle got it instead), a stuffed Parsley Woodroll and a hamster wooden cottage which I had in storage.

Treacle typically would come out to investigate is she heard me doing anything in her cage however she remained fast asleep – so I started removing her toys although left houses and toys I knew she sometimes sleeps beneath. Well I lifted up her wooden wheel and discovered her fast asleep beneath it – I felt so bad for uncovering her by lifting the wheel up but Treacle remained fast asleep so I just couldn’t resist a quick photo. I did then have to gently wake her up as I didn’t want to place the wheel back on top of her in case I gave her a fright – unlike my Syrians she wasn’t grumpy and was quite happy to see me although I think she was hoping for lots of treats to find their way to her.
This is the photo of Treacle fast asleep…

Treacle spent the entirety of her cage clean in her carrier, she did get a little impatient when I was nearing finishing her cage clean (luckily it doesn’t take as long to clean as my DIY cage) that I decided to place her back in when I was adding the finishing touches. Here is how Treacle’s cage now looks…

Then my next challenge started – getting some photo of Treacle exploring – despite being a senior lady she is very quick on her feet and races around the cage, therefore she was missing from most of my photos I took. But with some tasty treats and a piece of freeze-dried chicken she remained still for long enough to get some adorable photos…

I have also officially had Treacle for 4 weeks and a day now – I have thoroughly enjoyed every day so far as she has such a huge personality and is a real sweetie. Feels I had her for much longer and I’m love that we formed such a special bond and she helped me through such a difficult time of losing Maple. Both Treacle and Liquorice mean the world to me and I’m so lucky to have two very special hamsters in my life at the moment.

Treacle asleep- so very cute indeed. I never see mine asleep tucked up in a house!
Terrific set up for her. I have just struggled with a new set up for Maestro and never manage one of your creative environments. She must love it.
