A white russian called Popcorn
I went into pets at home today. I Iooked at hamster cages and accessories and left after a good old browse. Some very cute hamsters for sale i must say was tempted by a pair of white russians.
Did some shopping and came back. Had a look at hamsters in the adoption centre. Found a lovely red eyed white russian dwarf hamster.
He is currently making himself at home in a bin cage. A small one cos he was in a 40cm enclosure at the shop.
He is loving his sand bath.
Would like to get a nice see through cage for him. My Mother has suggested putting him in the living room , saying how nice it would be to see a hamster running about. Aw.
All the tank style cages like the duna multy have non see through bases which is a shame as they are good cages. Glass ones are soooo expensive.

Oh I can’t wait to see some pictures of Popcorn and to hear all about how he settles in. Great name, did you choose it? As a tiny white ham, I bet he looks like a popcorn kernel and bounces around just like one too!
Hope you find him the perfect cage. I agree that having a transparent one would be nice to see all his burrowing action and such. Maybe you could make a bin cage as a less expensive alternative to a glass tank?
You have quite the menagerie now - I am jealous

Aw, he sounds lovely. Glad he's making himself at home. I'm not surprised you couldn't resist.
I think there used to be tank style similar to the duna cages called a gabber Rex that had a clear base but not available now. However, having both solid coloured bases on my duna tanks and a glass kerry terrarium I can say, in my experience, it doesn't make a difference. I know some people are lucky and see hams dug down deep asleep but none of mine have when they've been in the tank. I mean, they dig down but not to the edge of the glass and never leave tunnels intact.

OMG he is sleeping on top of his substrate just by his wheel. Oh God Oh God Oh God I am going to feint with cute!!!
He is huuge for a dwarf like a fluffy powder puff.
AP I did choose the name. It does suit him for the reasons that you said. I love cage hunting! Am considering a reallynuseful box or rhe ikea one, the samla.
Velma thanks for the clear base vs solid colour base experience. I do like the look of the kerry ... will enjoy deciding! Thanks for the welcome.

Honestly ff - you should only be allowed to buy animal stuff online! You have too big a heart when it comes to little furries!! Congratulations on Popcorn. Cute addition to your hamily. Looking forward to the pix!

Coco it is very dangerous for me to live near anywhere selling cute fluffy animals ...
4 hamsters in my bedroom
4 hamsters in the dining room
3 guinea pigs in the dinning room
4 rabbits in shed/run in garden
2 dogs in the house
IMUST STOP THERE!!!!!
