Re: ~Bambi's Thread~
It would be ok to mix some Harry Hamster in but Burgess really is better for hybrids really & you may find Bambi doesn't like the biscuit type pieces in HH.
I think giving a few extras as treats (in moderation so you don't upset the overall balance too much) would be good, hemp, flax, pumpkin seeds (preferably in the shell) & buckwheat are all healthy additions they usually love.
Peeing in the food bowl is a way of marking it as theirs! It is more commonly seen in new young hams & they tend to grow out of it, throwing it away will make it worse, I would leave it & scatter some fresh food around the cage every couple of days, don't keep topping it up if it hasn't been eaten as that encourages them to be picky.
ETA I meant to say pasta is not an ideal treat for a diabetes prone species, personally I wouldn't feed it at all but if you really want to it should be a rare treat.
Stick to a good variety of fresh veg, low sugar, rather than things like pasta.

Not too sure on feeding him Harry Hamster to be honest. Cypher probably knows the answer! Burgess dwarf is still an excellent choice though. You would just have to vary your extras and treats (like pasta, chicken, egg, vegetables etc) which you should be doing anyway.

Re: ~Bambi's Thread~
Hi everyone! Today had been.. Eventful? I thought that Bambi sick This morning when I got home I was immediately worried because Bambi wasn't out and he's usually awake still when I get home in the morning.
I looked in his nest - I don't go into his nest often but when I do he usually wakes up and comes to see me. His breathing was really weird and he wouldn't open his eyes, I couldn't get him to drink or eat or anything.. Let me just say, this was the way Misty was before she died.
So being my normal paranoid self I start panicking, I told my cousin that I thought that he was sick and we should take him to the vets. Of course, our vets just HAD to be closed today.
I really thought he was going to die, he looked just like Misty did and it brought back so many bad memories. I was so upset and confused, my cousin said that he was absolutely fine last night.. He was on his wheel, in his sand, eating, drinking and he come out for play time and he seemed fine.
So none of us went into the room for the rest of the day - we felt so useless since the vets was closed there was nothing we could do.
Around an hour ago I managed to convince my mum to go and check on him -I didn't want to because I was so scared that he would be dead.
So she goes into the room and for a while she doesn't say anything, so already I'm expecting the worst. So my mum calls be and she's like -
"Megan, come here." She said it so slow and quietly so my immediate thought was 'Oh my gosh, he's going to be dead.'
So I walk into the room and Bambi is just playing in his sand having the time of his life! I was so confused I really thought he was going to die. Obviously I'm so happy that he's alive - I cried when I saw him. He seems fine now and I feel really silly for spending the whole day crying. He still hasn't eaten yet but he's been on his wheel for a while so I'm hoping that he's OK and that maybe he was just in a really deep sleep earlier and that's why he was acting weird? Fingers and paws crossed.
We're going to keep very close eyes on him and hopefully he'll be OK. He's only five months old so hopefully we still have a long time left with him. Sorry for rambling on and on and also, sorry if this doesn't make much sense I don't know if I've mentioned it before but English actually isn't my first language I feel like you must all have such a hard time reading my posts I hope it's not too annoying.

Re: ~Bambi's Thread~
I'm so sorry you've had such a scare! I'd take him out and give him a full health check to ensure all is well perhaps sharing a video with us could allow us to help you assess his health I personally would also recommend taking him on a trip to the vet to ensure he's okay as things like this can be indicative of larger problems developing. Hope he feels better soon!
For English not being your first language, you speak very well, in fact better than many native English speakers! Your posts are easy to read and are interesting so don't feel bad

Bambi is a cute little guy!. I also thought he would be a she, but now that you mentioned, the Bambi from Disney's movie was also a he.
I'm glad he's ok, but I agree with Drago, you never can be too careful

I'm glad to read that Bambi appears ok now. One thing came to mind...is the sand inside his cage all the time? I think it can cause problems, but one of the more experienced people here can correct me if I'm wrong. Bambi's colour is beautiful!

There is sand inside his cage most of the time it is hamster safe though and I've never had problems with it before. However, I think Bambs might be allergic to it so I've taken it out.

Re: ~Bambi's Thread~
See how he is over the next few days now you've removed the sand. But, I would book him in for a check up at the vets and tell the vet what happened, you got a scare and the vet will be able to check him thoroughly.

Re: ~Bambi's Thread~
He seems a lot better now. We've been trying to let him rest so we didn't take him out for play time which was a mistake since he kept everyone awake all night running on his wheel. He's stared to sleep on their or on the ground next to it ^_^
