When I was in Madrid I read the thread and I couldn't see the pictures, but now I can. Photobucket is hideous!!

I loved the pictures and I swear that I absolutely love your captions. They are always son fun to read. The comment over the picture was very fun too "The stinky eye" LOL

I don't know what to say about the veggies. I'm also a paranoid with fresh veggies, I don't leave big amounts in the cage because I'm afraid of them getting mouldy. But I've never found unfinished veggies in the cage, well... I found them once, the first (and only) time that I offered Blacky green beans, he didn't touch them and I can't blame him (I also think that they are disgusting), but he literally didn't touch them so I could find them easily

Thanks all for the comments and suggestions. I've been leaving a bit of veg (we've tried green beans, carrot and cucumber so far) in a little dish and he's only had a small nibble. I won't give up on it though, even a tiny bit is better than nothing. He hasn't dragged them away anywhere so at least it's been easy to remove in the morning

Yes dreamtree it certainly makes life interesting, never a dull moment apart from when they are all asleep and I'm awake lol

Yeah Hamsterita I don't like green beans either, just bought them for the boys thinking it was something different. Boris, Pasha and Jaska absolutely loved them though so I feel like I'll need to buy them again lol.

I also don't like green beans unless they are baked in a casserole with cream of mushroom soup, tons of French's fried onions, and lots and lots of black pepper and curry powder. Then, it is totally scrumptous!!! Unfortunately for Max, he can't taste the green beans cooked this way. Sorry, Max!!!!

Max and his new shelf
After a trip to ikea Max has got his very own knuff shelf. Max is a burrower and he’s not spotted often above ground. He was always burrowing under things and we were worried he was going to end up getting hurt. The shelf meant he could get back his ceramic cat house and sand bath. The ceramic sand bath used to sit on one of those cheese block things but he decided he would pee in it and because we hadn’t plastikoted it (we never bothered because no one else has pee’d in their cheese before lol) it had to get thrown out, so the the ceramic bath had to come out too. He does have another sand bath so he wasn’t really deprived though he probably thought he was lol. His cat house used to sit buried a little in to the substrate so he could get in easy but one day I caught him trying to burrow underneath it and it made me nervous so that was that. He doesn’t really sleep in it anyway so it wasn’t too bad but I could tell he was missing it as he kept looking for it.

Thank you also for the bowl suggestions, I bought most of them lol but he hasn’t really taken to having water in a bowl and always uses his bottle when I see him. I did come across the little water bowl that goes with the rodipet granite set his bottle is in so he has that too.

The shelf is a bit of a work in progress as we wanted to see how he got on with it before we did too much with it. I think we’re going to make it higher so that we can attach his bottle to the cage bars instead and get a bit more substrate in.

I managed to grab a few pics of him having a look at it his new shelf area, I don’t know how impressed he was but he seemed pleased to have his things back anyway

Here’s a little video too. He walks a bit differently since his back left leg is missing and he always seems to lift the stump really high. He is very fast at getting about though . It’s a bit dark and the bars were in the way but I didn’t want to scare him away by opening the front door of his cage.

All looks great! He looks pleased too I also really like the orange house. Looks like it would be cool in this heat, too. I've noticed a lot if people here have similar ones and I thought about trying to find one, but I don't reckon it would be a comfortable fit for an adult Syrian. If they do pink ones though, I might be swayed

Totally did not notice Max's back leg was missing! How did that happen? If you don't mind me asking, of course. He looks like he's happy and loving life despite it!

Thanks cypher, yes those little houses are cute. They've all got one lol, just in different colours though Boris and Pasha both have green ones so we decided to order different colours for the rest to stop us getting confused

Thanks you AP, I've never seen a pink one AP, just yellow, orange, blue and green but I don't see a syrian being able to fit in them to be honest. We adopted him like that, they said he was born that way but I don't know. Apparently it's not unusual for accidents to happen as mum tries to move them around it's usually a foot or a leg that she'll grab. I think it was Vectis that had said that on my thread about his set up when we first got him home
