Meet Artie
I’d like to introduce you all to Artie. He’s a rescue we adopted 3.5 weeks ago (age unknown). His cheeks were huge when we got him which we assumed was down to not feeling safe enough to make a stash but it turns out he had an abscess on his mouth. He’s still on the baytril but not the metacam anymore. We only got out first two hamsters seven months ago and this is the first time we’ve had to give medicine so it’s been quite a learning curve!
He’s a very feisty little boy and he loves running on his wheel and his flying saucer for hours and hours. He’s very bitey, but we don’t know what sort of life he had before and he’s had the upheaval of being in the adoption centre for 3 weeks before then having to settle with us…plus trips to the vet and syringes stuck in his face so understandable I think
Anyway here are a couple of pictures of him when he arrived and before had his first sand bath!

Re: Meet Artie
Hello Artie
He's a lovely looking little guy & so lucky to have found a new home with you, I hope he gets better soon, I'm sure he'll settle better once the syringes go away!
Your hamily is really growing now!

Re: Meet Artie
What an adorable little guy! That was very kind to rescue him, unfortunately, so many hams like him suffer in shelters before being put down or ignored due to the fact that nobody is rushing to their local shelter to save a ham. But not for little Artie! I hope his mouth feels better soon, and that he warms up to you

Re: Meet Artie
Thanks all for your lovely comments and well wishes Artie has been back to the vet and his abscess has gone so we're really pleased about that. The vet said he had attitude which is probably a polite way of saying he's ferocious lol.
Now that we can put the syringes away and the horrible baytril I'm hoping that we can curb the fierce side of his attitude in to something a little sweeter
