Artie the stunt ham lol! So glad your little man is OK after his squeaking episode. He's so fluffylicious and he makes me giddy. Love!

Re: Meet Artie
I'm so sorry that Artie gave you and hamdad a scare with his squeaking. Thankfully, all is well in Artieland now. He sure looks so adorable and cuddly in his pics. I especially love his new, trendsetting hairstyle and his silly, charming smile. He definitely always puts the hugest smile on my face and makes me giggle. The last pic just totally melted my already mushy heart, lol. Kisses to you, Marshmallow King - I just love you so, SO much!

Re: Meet Artie
Thank you so much for all your kind wishes for my little old man ham
Artie and his old age
I'm a little worried about Artie unfortunately, I mentioned to cypher a few weeks ago that I was concerned he was arthritic in his legs and I wondered if perhaps he is in pain. His legs are quite shaky but in a stiff sort of way. I decided to monitor him and see how he went as I didn't want to put him (or the poor vets who he always has to bite ) through the stress. However after weighing him on Saturday he has lost 7g since his weigh in a month ago and he's now down to 46g He was also squeaking quite a bit on Sunday and both his eyes seem be bothering him so he has an appointment for tomorrow evening.
I don't have many new photos of him but here's a couple from the last few weeks.

Re: Meet Artie
I'm really sorry to hear Artie isn't doing so well, the weight loss & the problem with his eyes is a concern & I'm sure you're doing the best thing taking him to the vet, I hope it doesn't stress him out too much & they can help make him more comfortable.
Don't be too hard on the vet Artie, they only want to help!
Be thinking of you tomorrow & wishing you all the best.
Look at all that fluff! Still a proper marshmallow Artie, no doubt about that
Nice to see you out for a stroll on the log too

Re: Meet Artie
Bless him BP, still a fluffy bundle. Hope the vet survives Artie's visit but the main thing is to get some relief for your little man. Good luck.

Re: Meet Artie
Poor Artie, another visit to the vet, fingers crossed he can get some tablets to help his beautiful legs.

Re: Meet Artie
Thanks everyone Artie (and the vet!) survived the visit. I was quite apprehensive as I worried they would say the best thing would be to have him pts because of his age, and I really didn't think he was at that stage. He still hunts for his mealworms and seems to be enjoying his life still. I need not have worried though as they never said anything about that thankfully. The vey felt it was arthritis but she got a more senior colleague to take a look at him, they agreed that he did seem quite arthritic in his legs when they were examining him. They've given us metacam for him so I'm hoping that will do the trick and make him more comfortable again. Of course he hates the metacam but hopefully he'll realise that it's helping him and he'll stop fighting against it so much
My fierce, fiesty boy was very well behaved at the vets, no blood or dead bodies for a change lol. He even scared all the cats in the waiting room as they miaowed in fear

Re: Meet Artie
Artie you're a star! Well done for being so nice to the vets & standing up to the cats
I can understand your concern about going to the vet & what might happen BP, it's always a worry when they get older but good to know Artie is doing ok & I hope the metacam helps soon even if it isn't so nice to take.

Re: Meet Artie
So glad the vet visit went well and the vet bravely survived the meeting. Maybe the cats won't be so keen on their next visit! Seriously BP, so relieved the vet gave you some pain relief for Artie. Would he take the metacam better in porridge?
