Re: Jaska
Lovely to see pictures of Jaska.
It's a shame he is very shy and hide when he senses your presence but I sure he aware that you are giving him such a wonderful life. I hope that one day he might relax enough to allow you to see him more but it's loving of you to give him the time and patience he needs.

Re: Jaska
Thank you Cypher, Dreamtree, Hamsterita and SKB I hope too one day he will maybe mellow a bit and be a bit less nervous around us. I love him to bits and will continue to regardless as he's a very special boy On the rare occasion (once in a blue moon lol) he wants to come to us he always takes a seed very sweetly, no snatching and he's never tried to bite us or even nibble us.
Hamsterita, I had him in a smallish cardboard box yesterday and put his favourite things from his cage in it. Trying to get him out is always a struggle. Usually we have to wake him up and he won't go in to a toilet roll tube or cup for ages (even with a treat in it). He just runs around getting all upset which just ends up being really stressful for everyone
Cypher he came out last night after we'd gone to bed and had a good nibble on his sprouts

Re: Jaska
Aww he's a little beauty!
He may take longer but what I love about you is your determination too carry on encouraging him & building his confidence. He looks very content and so pleased he enjoyed his sprouts.

Re: Jaska
I'm so sorry. It's so hard when they behave that way... well, at least he looks happy, so you could always let him be and seek comfort in your other hams. Maybe you could send him over the weekend and Blacky could give him a couple of tips now that he's gaining some confidence

Re: Jaska
I caught Jaska having a drink this morning and grabbed a picture (allbeit a terrible one!) of the mystery man ham. He'd gone back to his subterranean network of tunnels by the time I got to the hamster room.
As for an update, well, Jaska is still being Jaska. We've got a red light - another copied idea from Cypher, thank you - in their room now and he seems a bit more comfortable to come out from his hideyholes when it's on. He will come to the bars to take some seeds not every day but some days. I'm scared to do anything else though in case I spook him and that's it again. I even get scared to talk about him in case I jinx things like the last time lol.
The boys all had a partial cage clean at the weekend and Jaska didn't move from his bed under his ramp!
Anyway here's the picture. It reminds me of one that you would see in the news of some "big cat" patrolling the moors or something. You can see something is there but you're just not sure what it is lol.

Re: Jaska
Aww bless! I so love this little guy, I know the feeling of being scared to do anything even breath lol! just in case it scares them, thankfully mine have gone past that stage (even the almost invisible Zylvan!) & I hope little by little Jaska will get a bit braver, he obviously likes a quiet life & is lucky to have such a good mum & dad who respect that.
We really want to see more of you Jaska, do pop out now & then

Re: Jaska
Awww poor Jaska and poor you! But it's good to know that he's doing ok even if he doesn't want to know anything about mom. Nasty Jaska! I feel you when you say that you're scared to do anything at all, It happens to me a lot. I also want a red light, I've been waiting for ages for the Ikea Ledberg led stripe but they run out of stock and it's taking them ages to re-stock it.
