I'm sure she'll love her new tank once she's settled, sounds good for her & you.

She'll get a tank even bigger eventually. When Chloe passes, but Chloe is tough so she might hang on for awhile. Hope so but Ariana will get Chloe's tank eventually.

Ariana was scratching relentlessly in her house against the floor. So I reached in through the top & fed her a sunflower seed. She lightly bit my finger first then she saw the seed. Happy happy, then I dropped 2 more for her.

She's not making a nest with tissue or using wheel or going to upper level.. she just scratches at the floor.

Normally I wouldn't put seeds in this early. So she's having a hard time settling in

I don't see any harm in putting seeds in from day one tbh, at least they begin to associate your presence with something yummy even before you begin to interact with them.
It's so early I wouldn't worry about her settling in, it sounds as though she's trying to make a nest in the substrate below her house, with two Chinese in the house I get that scratching under the house/shelf or wherever they happen to be sleeping a lot, my Russians do use tissue for a nest mostly but she may just be happy with the substrate or not used to having anything nice like tissue yet.

I am so tempted to pick up her house & feed her treats but since I already fed her treats & she's still scratching I just moved her cage away from me so it doesn't drive me nuts..

This 1-2 week time period worked for Madison & the Bears, Latte only needed one week. Not saying this taming method is good for everyone but I found it works out well.

I'm upgrading her to a 20 gal long Plexiglas tank. Just picked it up today for 1/2 off sale, cost about $33.00 ( I was going to do the 10gal, then the 15 gal and today I decided on the 20 gal for just a few dollar more). They are reptile tanks but they make great hamster cages cause they at lighter to carry than glass. The screen pulls out instead of having a top that you can lift off like the aquarium cages.

I have a free vet visit, a $70 visit that I could bring her to. She's so tiny that I'm afraid it might do more harm than good. I don't want to stress her if not needed.

She scratches a little but I probably have flash backs of Koala Bear. All they would do is a skin scrape on a 24 gm hamster. She'll probably double her size when full grown. I don't believe she has mites so I don't think I'll use the coupon.

I'm just thinking of the expensive vet visit that I could get for free

She has a wild personality, the more dominant one in the tank. She has tried to climb out of her Critter Trail that she is currently in 2x's now.

She's not going to be a biter (if I keep her away from the vet)?

I watched her eat her first sunflower seed yesterday. So far her only one, she wasn't sure what it was? It took her about 5 minutes to crack it open and eat the seed. I took a video of it. Cute

I was reading earlier in the thread of how she took a sunflower seed from me but I don't remember that? Good thing to write things down then I can have a better memory when needed lol.

She reminds me of Koala when he was a baby in the first two pics. The last pic is her true coloring.

Good news...tested. her urine already & she does NOT have diabetes! Yay! Now I'll really watch her diet to keep her diabetes free

Thanks FF
