Re: Tinwë the brave!
Thanks again everyone.
I’m on a bit of an emotional roller coaster at the moment, he didn’t come out of his house at all yesterday after having his meds, wasn’t interested in his seeds or anything other than mealworms (he’ll still eat as many of those as I offer him!) & was fast asleep when I peeked into his house before going to bed last night, there were some signs he’d been out in the night but after his meds this morning I put him on the floor & he’s still dragging those back legs as much as ever & I can’t help wondering if it’s going to be permanent & what that might mean.
He’s not very warm when he comes out of his nest which is a bit worrying, not cold just not as warm as he should be, he has lots of tissue & fitch in there though & a snugglesafe under his cage day & night so he should be ok.
After feeling really disheartened first thing this morning he’s showing more of that fighting spirit again, a few hours after he went back into his bed I heard crunching sounds coming from his house so at least he’s eating something in there then he came out to go back under his shelf, nothing wrong with his front legs bless him! He was having a good dig to open up his hole again to get under there.
I guess I just have to try not to think too far ahead yet & take it one day at a time.

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Tinwe is being very brave. Sorry to hear he is still dragging his back leg but I'm hoping the medicine will help him to regain full use - my fingers are crossed. Tinwe still sounds very determined and isn't letting anything stop him for digging. I admire the fighting spirit hamster have!

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Poor Tinwë. I was hoping today there would be a little sign of improvement. It's great that he is still digging away though it's a positive sign. you mentioned that he feels cold despite all his bedding and snugglesafe. I wonder if it could be something to do with his circulation? Maybe his blood isn't circulating quickly enough or not enough is getting to his legs? I don't know, perhaps I am thinking too much in human terms!
Whatever it is I hope you can get to the bottom of it and Tinwë can get back to normal.
Sending bigs hugs to you and Tinwë xx

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Thanks CMB, SKB, BP & Coco.
He was a bit sleepy when he had his meds this morning so it was hard to tell if things were just the same or not so I let him go back to bed & sleep, maybe he'll come out later & I'll have a better idea.
I have meds for a few more days so will just see how it goes.
I'm really not sure about the temp thing BP but he did seem a little bit warmer this morning.
I think he's comfortable enough at the moment which is the main thing & I did leave a teeny bit of walnut in his wheel last night which had gone this morning, he may just have put his head in to take it out but at least I know he's about a bit in the night & moving around a little.

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that darling Tinwe isn't feeling well and is also dragging his hindlegs. I hope that meds do the trick and he has a speedy and full recovery from all this, Cypher. I know it is extremely scary, heartbreaking, and emotional to see your hammy going through this and only have to wait and see how things go, but just take it one day at a time and remember meds combined with love can make miracles happen. It is a definite positive sign that he took the walnut and mealworms. Your sweetie is truly determined to fight hard, and you have all the well-wishes, hugs, and support from all of your friends. We are here for you and your darling. Fingers crossed that he shows drastic signs of improvement later tonight after a nice nap and he will be well in no time. I am sending you lots of hugs and giving tons of cuddles to Tinwe. Eros and Snickers are giving their hampal a bunch of whisker kisses, too.

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Aww well done Tinwë for managing to get your walnut. It's a positive sign that he's managing to get out and about and not just staying in his house. Fingers crossed the extra meds will do the trick

Re: Tinwë the brave!
Sounds like your brave man is fighting hard, lovely to hear he had some walnut and managed to get about.
As ham-parents we always feel like we're not doing enough for our little ones when in fact we're doing all we can and just want them to get better super quickly.
We're all behind you and Tinwe and sending big warm hugs xxx
