If you're sad then you're in good company - most people here are hamster-obsessed and we love hearing about all the little details that makes hamster-owning so enjoyable. And you're right, it is upsetting when you act on advice that turns out not to be the best, but there are quite a few real experts here; I know I have learned an immense amount.
