Default Is this sand or a dust?

Hey everyone,

I've got the "Padovan Chinchilla Bathing sand" (Bathing sand. Padovan) and I'm not sure if it's a dust or an actual sand (I've heard Chinchila sand can be dust in actuality). If anyone used this product can you tell me what it is in actuality? I'm new to buying sand, and this one sadly was the only one in my country that I found T_T .

If you don't know can you tell me a way of finding out, if it's actually sand or no :^

Thank you!

P. S. This is my first post ^^

Hello and welcome to HC!

Why don't you contact the manufacturer and ask the question?

From what I am aware of with Chinchillas, all "Chinchilla sands" are dusts, as the "sand" particles need to be small enough to get close to each hair follicle. As the hair is really dense, these particles are TINY and therefore inappropriate for hamsters.
What country are you in?

The usual advice is - it must be sand not dust. It says sand on the packet. There are different types of sand - quartz and other types. I agree - email the manufacturer, ask them what type of sand it is and what the grain size is. Too big a grain can be bad too as that can be sharp.

You've already bought it by the sound of it so how do you think it is? Does it seem dusty? If you tip it into a dish does a cloud of dust come off? If not it's probably fine. Does it seem very fine like dust or more like sand?
