Default A busy Sunday upgrade (and new family member) ;)

I ache, and all my poor muscles are in pain lol we had a busy Sunday as we had another detolf arriving so we could upgrade Terence into a bigger enclosure than his bin cage. I'm so happy both my wee men are in 950 square inches considering the first year of their lives were spent bored and in small cages. The detolfs give room for foraging, lots of interesting tunnels and room to burrow and show natural behaviours please mind the mess it was a busy day and in total we spent 5 hours between the detolf and our next upgrade lol we do have lids as well.

We also on Sunday (why in the same day) lol decided after watching tutorials to combine our 2 spare bins together to make a super franken bin for our new resident who is in the picture below. We have called him Winston and he's a 6 month Syrian we took from Sphock living in a 173 Square inch 3 storey crittertrail with to small tubes, wheel and house. He now has a Guineapig house of his own as he's a canny big Syrian haha he now has a super deep bedding section and he loves burrowing, we've provided as much enrichment and foraging for him as well the franken bin has a floor space of just over 1000 square inches so it's a big upgrade

Wow, that does sound like a busy day. But those cages look great, and Terrence and Winston are very lucky hamsters.

That is one lucky hamster trio moving from a shed to a mansion on an estate!

Winston, is he from the Shpock Hamster Cage advert where the hamster was described as timid and jumpy and mentioned almost like an afterthought?

Hi yes I believe its the same advert. Advertised a pink and blue crittertrail cage? He's a lovely lovely hamster, loves his burrowing now he has the correct set up for that kind of behaviours

I don't find him to timid or jumpy either, he's never been jumpy so far but maybe a little timid but he's very inquisitive so if I'm putting something in or changing water he will come over and sniff at my fingers. A little patience is all he needs and a big set up. He's a big hamster I'm not sure how he didn't get stuck in those tubes.

Yay!! I am so so happy that this hamster found a wonderful home! His living conditions were pretty desperate. Love the name.

He is a lovely hamster. It looks like Winston may get himself an even bigger upgrade as we've managed to secure a really cheap eco world habitat large which is much bigger than our custom built cage we ordered for our Syrian female. We are looking to give that to her as we've read up that females are much more demanding for space and then as we've already paid for the custom which is being built we are going to give this to Winston when it arrives but it will give him much more enrichment and 1056 square inches to live out the rest of his life
