Default How Important are Tubes/Tunnels?

I live in the US, and have been shopping (mostly on Amazon, I'm not totally sure where else to buy online from and am trying to avoid Petco/Petsmart) for a decent sized cage for the Syrian I'm hoping to adopt in the next month or so. I found a Prevue cage that looks like it fits the minimum suggested (it's 32.5x19x17.5 inches), and a waaaaaay more expensive "Savic Hamster Plaza Hamster Cage" (39.37x19.69x19.69 inches). Anyway, neither of these look like they have openings for their brand of tubes/tunnels for the hamster, while most of the smaller, dinkier cages seem like they lean into the tunnel thing way more.

I'm wondering how important to a hamster's happiness/wellbeing having access to tunnels would be, and if either of these cages seem appropriate.

Hamsters like tunnels/ they will make their own (if bedding allows) or added ones add enrichment for them and a safe place to hide, so they don;t feel too exposed out in open spaces.

I think the tubes you may be on about are the ones that already come attached to cages. often these are too small for hamsters, especially syrians. You normally need to be looking at accessories that are sold for rats, look into wicker tunnels/cork logs that type of thing, or make your own from cardboard or if you have any cardboard tubes, they work too.

The prevue or the savic plaza are both good cages.

I guess what I'm wondering more specifically is, is it best to have (appropriately sized) tubes that connect to the outside of their cage, or can it be a fun thing for out of the cage/in the playpen/safe area?

I would say more safe to have inside the cage or when free roaming/in a safe playpen etc rather than attached to outside of cage, where potential to escape.
