Unfortunately I was in P@H today and saw a man buying this cage for his children and buying a Syrian hamster! It made me really sad that someone would put a Syrian in this cage and that the shop would let them.

Ugh!! Not fair on the poor hammy When I worked in PAH, if someone was getting a cage that was obviously too small, I'd always tactfully point out that it would be like living in a cupboard. It usually worked but not always.

Re: Help With Water Bottle On Hamsters Cage?
It isn't even big enough for one dwarf hamster Smysha.
Now I always try and be fair and if I feel a cage is not brilliant but it is adequate for an animal and that animal gets plenty attention and time out then I think it is OK but that cage is not even adequate
Imagine living your whole life in a room the size of a small bathroom
And selling it for a Syrian? Heck it is even called a dwarf cage!!!

Well I've never got the guts to tell them outright but I did say rather loudly when they were near the cages "Why would anyone buy that cage etc etc"
I mean it is £26 and you can buy the mini dina for £30, which although not ideal for a Syrian is much better. For the sake of £4 I don't understand at all. The children probably picked it because its colourful etc which is fine but it should be down to the shop assistants to tell them it is definitely not suitable for a Syrian.

I totally agree that the shop assistants should have told them that it wasn't suitable

I have the mini duna for one ww and its a really great cage. I think that if you made sure that there is two of everything, wheel, bowl etc it should be ok.

Re: Help With Water Bottle On Hamsters Cage?
I can't believe that P@H would sell that cage for a syrian I am so appalled, all my syrians are in Hamster Heavens. We got that little cage when we adopted our first russian and he was in it for one night until we could get a bigger one the next day (The Duna Fun I think it's called). I think it would be ok for little russians though if like everyone said it could be linked to at least one other cage
