I have this one for my dwarf hams and it seems to work for them with plenty of bedding to burrow in.

I have the Rosewood Pod carrier as well and it's a good size for a dwarf hamster. It would be a bit cramped for a Syrian though unless for a very short journey. It's not chew proof so I also have something similar to the Ferplast Geo plastic fish tank which I use for chewing animals. Hamsters might feel less secure in the Geo though as it has a clear base.

This thread has been really useful, seeing all the potential pros and cons before buying - thank you to everyone who has contributed. I now have on order a Ferplast Aladino carrier in medium size, which should do the job nicely.
