Default Large Tube Connector

Hi all,
Recently adopted a 12 week old Syrian hamster named Tilly/Matilda. We got her a large cage with plenty of space to run around but want to extend it. The cage we have currently has no tubes, nor places to put tubes. We want to use tubes to connect 2 cages together but need a tube connector. Ideally, I don't want to cut any wire on her cage. The only place I can think of putting a tube connector would be on the wire door, but it would need to be 12x15 cm.
Does anyone know where I can buy one this large? thanks

If you're on about those hard plastic tubes, personally I wouldn't bother. Hamsters can get stuck in them and more trouble than they're worth.

Can we have a pic of your setup? May be able to help with more suitable enrichment

Hi there. I agree about the tubes - two attached cages doesn't work as well as one larger one - tubes are always escape routes as well. The edges chewed or pushed out. Assume you mean to fit in an existing door? In the end it's better to just buy a bigger cage really - and either sell the old one or keep it as a play cage/holiday cage. Which country are you in? There are a lot of good, inexpensive choices of large cages in Europe - less so in the US but there are tanks, detolfs and a decent sized cage available.

No idea re what you are looking for but I know someone who has a savic plaza attached to a wooden paw hut with a drain pipe but they had to cut the wire.

Hi,
Thanks for all your replies. We've decided against the tubes but got another cage to put her in and are going to alternate between the two so she gets a change every now and again 😊

Hi, just to let you know that may not be such a good idea as you think for your hamster.
It could unsettle your hamster, just as she gets used to one cage you move her into another. It can be quite stressful for them. You could use one as a run or somewhere for her to explore when you are playing with her but then maybe put her back in her main cage.

I agree with Luna that it would be very unsettling to move your ham from one cage to another, the cage is their territory & their home, to suddenly be uprooted into another would be very stressful. It can take them anything up to a couple of weeks to adjust to a different cage so it's not something you would do lightly, only if the current cage was unsuitable then you might want to make the change to something more suitable but permanent.
Better to have one permanent cage that is large enough & plenty of out of cage time if your ham enjoys that.

Thanks again for the replies guys. Sorry I had no idea about that, still learning, so thanks for clarification on that. I think we will put her in new cage permenantly as it's bigger than the one we have currently, and maybe just keep the old one for emergencies etc. Do you think putting some of her old bedding in the new cage will help her adapt a bit more? We let her free roam in our room (we have a very minimalistic room so there is absolutely no dangers or furniture apart from the bed. We have a built in wardrobe but keep it closed when she is out) quite a lot, and when she does, we leave her cage open so she can come and go as she pleases. Would leaving the new cage open for her to explore as she wishes help?

When you move them from one cage to another it’s best to keep all the bedding & put that on top if you need to add more in the new cage.
Don’t do any cleaning except spot cleaning any pee for at least a few weeks after the move, preferably before too so everything has her scent on it. It helps to keep the layout similar if you can too.
Do you mean leaving the cage door open when you’re in the room to supervise her? However ham safe you think your room is I would never leave the cage door open if you aren’t in the room with her but if you are there than that’s fine.

Hi, thanks for the advice. Sorry I didn't phrase it very well. We only let her out if we're in the room, we keep the cage door open so she can get water, food, shelter if she needs it
