Unfortunately, a lot of parents are irresponsible and teach their kids that its ok to get rid of a hamster when the novelty has worn off or the hamster doesn't live up to their expectations.

Is the answer I got a positive ting?

I'm not sure. Personally, i wouldn't consider them as suitable if it were my hamster up for adoption.

I would be asking if as the parents they are happy with that and if they would still be willing to give that hamster the time and attention it needs, if it will be just stuck in it;s cage with no interaction then I would be walking away from this discussion and not letting them have a hamster.

They said they still would take the hamster out off the cage. They do think off using samla as a Diy cage.

Is it a hamster you rescued and now want to rehome or is it one of your own hamsters? What kind of hamster is it?

You also need to ask if they have the necessary DIY skills to convert a Samla into a hamster habitat. It needs a meshed lid and at least a meshed front window so the hamster can see out and gets enough air. I also add a back vent. I take it its the large Samla they're talking about.

Some people think its ok to just drill a few holes into a storage box and call it a bin cage.

Breeders here in norway only take mesh at the top and a door in front.

But I feel it get very mixed signal as they say that if the kids looses the interes, the adults will take the responsibility, but they want the option to give the hamster back.

Rashy, walk away. there will be someone else.
The fact that this thread has gone on and on tells me we all have doubts about this situation, including yourself. Go with your gut. Anyone that wants the option to give an animal back is not ready to take on the responsibility for an animal.

there will be someone better out there that wants to adopt a hamster I am sure. They are wasting your time.
