Time... hm... the direct-in-ivar-cage took a looong time to built and much patience (about two wweks, but it was the first cage i made by myself and i had a few bigger faults in the plan which i regognized first while building...), the other 3 were ready after a few hours
(without the "furniture").

excellent idea to build a cage from a whole cupboard. can you tell us a bit HOW to actually build them??

I could try, but it's comlicated because i don't know all the words i'd need to explain how i made the direct-in-ivar-cage =/.
The other ones are very easy to explain
.
You just need a board for the ground of the cage, 2 boards for the sides and one for the back. For the front you can use glass, it gives a great look into the cage and the cage itself looks much better when it has no wire at the front. As a cover you should use a frame with wire like i used, with these squares... i don't know english words for it, in Germany whe say "Volierendraht".
Then you need screws to put the boards together for a cage
.
I'd really recommend to use particleboard/chipboard for the cage, because this material resists againgst wee and water, and you can disinfect it if your hamster gets ill or dies and you want to let live in it another hamster.
In Germany the recommandation minimum size of an hamstercage (by pet-rescues) is 100x50cm, so my smallest cage has this size at the ground board.
... and for the size's of the single boards i think i have to try to draw, because it's hard to explain without pictures (even in german...).
I'm going to draw the pictures now
.
