Smile What is this made of?

Hi I bought my hamster a rosewood edible play shack which he loves. He particularly likes the roof and as you can see from the photo he enjoys pulling bits out.

Do you know what the roof is made of?

TIA

Not totally sure but I think it may be alfalfa, I’m not to keen on those myself, I worry a bit that it may be a bit sharp like hay & have a potential to hurt pouches.

Thanks for the response. He doesn't seem to Chew or pouch it, he likes to pull it out and sleep on it.

He seems to enjoy eating his houses, he has splintered a wooden house, cracked a plastic one and eat the wall of a carrot cottage in less than two weeks.

I will keep an eye on the alfalfa.

Thanks

He certainly seems to enjoy a good chew lol! have you tried him with whimzee dog chews? They usually love them & it would be a lot safer & save you having to replace houses! The small toothbrush ones are best.

He’s gorgeous and has a lovely set up there . I think they look very nice those shacks. They are supposed to be safe to chew and rosewood tend to make safe stuff. I tend to stick to chews like whimzees as well. I am quite envious that you have a hamster that chews stuff. I have never had a chewer. Although Charlie did chew one of the legs on his house once but I think that was just because he decided it was in the way.

I have a chewer too. I use the trixie grass hammocks as ‘wallpaper’ and she just loves shredding them. I have put hay in a toilet roll middle and she’s not interested at all. I think she only likes doing it if it’s naughty- like small child lol
