Default New Natural Cage Theme

My hamsters were due for a half cage clean so I decided to take advantage of it and go with a more natural theme which I’ve always wanted to do. The bin cage is my Syrian who gets very anxious with big cleans so she only got about 1/4 new bedding so it doesn’t look as natural yet. The other (my campbell) one is less anxious about cleaning so she got the full half. Both still aren’t 100% natural themed yet.

Anybody have any extra suggestions on things I could do or add to their cages?

My Syrian loves sand, I have made 1/4 of her Alaska a giant sandpit which she loves, you don’t have to go this big, could use a bowl or casserole dish see if they enjoy it first

Cork logs and grape-vine wood are great assets to natural cages!

And they love to nibble on a variety of millet sprays which also look great in a natural set up....unless you have a little dwarf like my Edwina who demolishes them.

Your set ups look great and your hamsters should be well happy.

Maker, They used to have sand. My Syrian wouldn’t ever touch it. My dwarf loves it but I ran out and the brand I use was out of stock on Amazon so she’ll be getting her sand pit again soon haha.

I’ll definitely look into grapevine wood and cork logs thank you!

I’ve been looking into getting some Miller sprays as well. Are the ones advertised for birds safe for hamsters or would I have to look for some other brand?

The bird ones are fine. Rosewood does a nice selection pack called Pick 'n Fly for birds and small animals. Available on Amazon.

Hahaha I found her trying to push it open and she was getting it to move a bit so it’s just an extra precaution haha
