Ideally you’d want at least 3 to 4” in. So it feels like a cage set up. I would just try and get some more substrate

Talking Re: Big but cheap, non barred cages?

Update on boy!

He's been in the cage for a few days now and he seems to have settled very well. He seems a lot calmer in the bin than in the Barney, as all he would do in the Barney is climb the bars, run back and forth along the sides, and bar chew, but in the bin he's running in his wheel like normal and not scrabbling at the sides. He still bites, but u haven't done much taming with him yet as I wanted to make sure he was settled properly, however I did let him out for playtime a couple days ago. He's tried the whimzees and he likes them, which is very good, but I've got to limit the amount I give him because they go in pretty much 1 day (they're only the extra small ones tho). Overall he seems to be doing good, a lot less stressed, and overall happier :)
