Re: Living World Eco Habitat Cage
Ok, so took me 4 days but I finally got the cage ready for Twinkle. Videos and pics coming out in about a months time when I sort them and edit them
The only problem I can see so far is that he can get his bottom teeth through the ventilation holes on the side. I hope this was just him trying to work out what is going on. I slept with the living room and my bedroom door open last night so if he managed to chew his way out hopefully I would hear him and/or he would only venture into the bedroom if he did escape, but now that I think about it he would have had a big drop! Oops I may put a cushion there tonight. Am I worrying about nothing, has anyone else had this problem with this cage?
I did think i could get a strip of the mesh and attach it through a couple of the ventilation holes with a bolt or something. (Jute string or zip ties until I could get hold of some bolts) Or alternatively I could move all the bedding away from the ends and just pile it up in the middle.
I think I will just see what happens over the next few nights.
The cutest little thing is when his nose sniffs through the holes, but I must admit I do miss the interaction you get with a barred cage. I am hoping I won't be so upset over this over time, but at the moment I miss it. Does anyone else think like that re these styles of cages?

Re: Living World Eco Habitat Cage
Well done getting the cage all done, look forward to seeing it & fingers crossed Twinkle was just exploring & doesn’t have an ongoing issue with those little ventilation holes.
If eel the same way with tank style cages tbh, sometimes they are the only option but when I used one I missed that interaction through the bars too.

Thanks Cypher, I was trying to get it done before the heat hit today.
I plastikoted the inside, and meshed the lid. Hoping to put some hinges on it so i don't have to keep lifting it off.
Fingers crossed re Twinkle and those ventilation holes.
Glad I am not alone in my thinking re the style of cage. It did make me think, I might stick to my savic plazas when I first get a syrian to help bond. Twinkles absolutely fine with me with the new cage but I don't think he would have been if I had just got him.

Re: Living World Eco Habitat Cage
Hi all, so I finally got the video done about what I did to my Eco Habitat Cage. I hope it can help others in the future. As mentioned in previous comment, I meshed the lid plastikoted it and now I have added hinges and a handle. It has made life sooooo much easier.

Hopefully this pic will give you a good idea of what I did, the video explains in more details.

It's really interesting seeing how you've modified it. How do the manufacturers expect you to open the lid, by sticking your fingers in the holes?

Yes, that's the idea, but if you mesh it then you can't put your fingers through anymore. So before I meshed it I put string through the lid so I could still lift it until I got round to putting the handle and hinges on.
