Default House with lid

Hello,

I am looking for a house with little rooms and a removable lid, like the rodipet one. Is there something like this one (attached) but a little cheaper?

https://www.rodipet.co.uk/houses/rod...26-cm-7cm.html

I am not sure I can justify spending £30 + postage on it however much I love it.

Thank you!

there is the trixie labyrinth house

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-62...9710836&sr=8-1

it may be cheaper from zooplus

It also dpends on what type of hamster you have, Syrians will fit, but very larg syrians may not, I noticed my largest syrian 180g at the time chewed one of the holes on the inside to make it bigger.
You may also need to knock the base off if your hamster toilets on the wood.

Thank you! I have a Syrian but she isnt fully grown yet I don't think so don't want her to grow and get stuck in the holes. Maybe it would be worth investing the rodipet one.

The cheapest option is the Ferplast guinea pig house which has a removable roof and costs around a tenner. The also do a rabbit sized one.
My 230g Syrian loves his house but it doesn't have little rooms of course. You could maybe make a room devider with strong cardboard providing your hamster pees in a toilet.

Thank you for your help! I have now actually asked someone on instagram who makes beautiful hides to make a multi chambered one for me, which has cost me much less than the rodipet one!

hi I've just found your response to a question below. I've tried a few times to knock the base off the Trixie leif house but can't budge it. Any tips? Thanks!

You just keep tapping one side then the other of the base - not too hard, it's more the repetitive tapping that starts to loosen it. You should start to see a little gap appear at one side, then I would move to the other side till a little gap appears and then move back to the original side and so on, till it is off. Then you may have to remove a couple of nails if they havn't come off already.

Sounds great you’ve found someone to make one! I have that Rodipet house and yes it is ridiculously expensive - very popular with hamsters. I have often thought it may be simpler to make one- it’s just a box with partitions really (and a roof). The tricky bit could be cutting doors. If you get one made I would recommend having normal doors rather than the round ones as I always end up having to cut the bottom bit off the round doors (to make a normal door) when they get older - easier for them to get in an out.

Just seen these replies to this, I actually ended up making one like the rodipet one from planks of wood i bought in B&Q, i sawed them down to size then glued them together using elmers school glue, my hamster moved straight into it and she absolutely loves it! By making it myself i could make the sections how she would like them, and I fitted her rodipet corner toilet in there too! It ended up costing about £20 in total and I am so so happy with it! I can attach some pictures later if anyone is interested!
