Default Looking for a plastic/film type of material to protect a wooden cage

Hi!

So I have recently ordered a new large wooden cage for my syrian however just realised that my hammy's urine may seep into the wood if it gets through the substrate. So does anybody have any recommendations on a plastic film type material which I could stick onto the wood to protect it from the urine or does anybody else have any other ideas?

Thank you.

Anything you can stick on could potentially be chewed off so I wouldn't recommend it, if you're in the UK you could give it a couple of coats of Plastikote water based enamel, it has to be the water based one though none of the other types.
