Yes - I had that thought too. Even if we attached the two layers together at various points, it would still be all too easy to get a paw stuck.
Ria P - no, we don't have a B&Q here, and are not planning a trip to the mainland until much later in the year. I looked at the B&Q site online yesterday, but didn't see anything. Perhaps I skimmed through a bit too quickly. Screwfix do some that's the right size - but we have to buy 10 sheets!

I'm wondering if you could hold two layers together by securing them with cable ties spaced at regular intervals?

Re: A new home....
B&Q usually do 90x60cm sheets, but they aren't on the website at the moment. I've been looking for them for a project of my own. I have bought the same sheets from Wickes in the past.

Re: A new home....
Thanks, Sushi 78 - I'll have a look at Wickes's site.
Edit: Found exactly what I wanted - but they won't deliver to our address!
And so the search goes on.

Re: A new home....
This may be a silly suggestion because its probably the first thing you've tried but couldn't a local hardware shop place an order for your mesh together with their own order?
Have you tried a builders merchant? I think they sometimes use mesh for cement.

Thanks for your suggestions. Unfortunately, we've tried both of those. BUT....I think I have finally found some on Amazon. It may be unethical to buy from Amazon, but needs must, and hamsters come first!!!!

Re: A new home....
I've bought mesh on Ebay before as well, though some sellers won't deliver to the Highlands and Islands.

As a matter of interest. Why do you consider buying from Amazon unethical? I do it all the time. Only thing that annoys me is the excessive packaging which i reuse or recycle.

Re: A new home....
I can't speak for everyone, but it is known that Amazon tends to put smaller businesses out of business quite literally - in some cases buying them out and such. It's not good at all, and they also don't tend to have very good regulations in regards to counterfeit or poorly manufactured knockoff type products as well as unsafe products(not just hamster related).
I know Amazon is convenient and easy so people tend to just go with Amazon, but it is always best to stick to local and smaller businesses as much as you can and use Amazon as your last resort(and generally not for foods etc for common counterfeit and such reasons mentioned). There are smaller online businesses too, not just questionable at best giants - something I've noticed some people do get wrong as online business isn't always bad!

Re: A new home....
The working conditions / rates of pay etc for their staff are also questionable. I do use Amazon because there are a lot of things we can't get here, but I do also try to look for other alternatives.
