Default Hamster burrows/beds

I recently got a new hamster and he’s still settling in to his new house, even though I’ve provided him with plenty of bedding and hideouts he’s still choosing to sleep in a corner towards the back of his house and under his wheel. Should I rearrange his home so that he has a hideout in this area or is that a bad thing to do?

I think that the hamster will find all of his hides eventually.

What kind of hamster do you have? A Syrian or a dwarf?

Hehe same issue here with my little Syrian girl, Wintergreen! I found the same with my previous Syrian, too. She did find her way into a house eventually, just took her a few weeks, and my trying out various bottomless cardboard boxes over the top of where she nested until she got the idea of nesting inside somewhere! She ended up in a fancy round hut with a straw roof, which she loved and had plenty of space for burrowing under!

You can try just popping an upturned shoebox over where he's nesting, so as not to disturb him too much, but provide him with a shelter which he'll most likely appreciate, despite not realising he needs to get under one!

Nah leave him to it. Rearranging the cage will add stress and not worth it. What's to say that he won't find a different corner if you move stuff about? Also I think all new hams do make a nest in the corner by/behind their wheel, I know Niko did
