Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
I got a 6.5 inch silent spinner which seems like a good size. The problem is that she gets it spinning so so fast that when she stops running she does a couple of 360s in the wheel. Any suggestions on a better wheel? I worry about her spinning around like that.

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
Oh, poor thing ! Don’t get a flying saucer because it did exactly the same to my dwarf, except she was being thrown horizontally. The 6.5 inches silent spinner solved my problem so I wouldn’t know what to recommend, other than finding a way to slow the wheel down somehow ?

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
My Robo had this wheel and kept flying off when he slowed down from running very fast.
The wheel i really wanted was temporarily out of stock but he has it now and runs ever so well on it because the running surface is wider. He needs a plastic wheel because he pees while he runs.
Have a look on page 3 of my thread Henry and Gordon in Hamster Chat of the Forum and you will see a photo of the wheel in its box. It's a 7in wheel with a good stand that doesn't tip over but can also be attached to bars. The wheel runs very smoothly and is silent.
I bought it in a shop called Paradise Pets in Swindon Wiltshire. Both my dwarves have it and my Syrian has the large version.
Don't mistake it for the Savic Roly wheel which isn't a good wheel in my opinion.

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
Our Robo used to do that on the flying saucer but they do it for fun I think . They soon get the hang of how not to fly off it - just make sure there is nothing hard nearby they can bounce off.
I had this saucer plus an upright wheel for our Robo and he used both - I think he enjoyed the saucer most. I can recommend having both. I had the 9” Rodipet cork and wood wheel- spins really easily, can be height adjusted on its stand or screwed to the bars I painted the cork surface with plastikote and it was still like new two years later. It’s not cheap though and trixie also make a 9” wood and cork wheel that is cheaper. They also throw themselves out of wheels for fun - but the novelty wears off quite quickly and they run normally.

Mine was being thrown so violently I was afraid of brain damage. Maybe I’m too cautious but I didn’t want to take the chance.

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
I have a 7 inch Trixie wheel for my Robo. It's an enclosed design similar to a Wodent Wheel, so she can't fall out.

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
Winnie my tiny robo did the same but she got used to it very quickly. I also have a 9" silent runner in her cage which lots of people recommended. At first you will think it is huge but she loves it and it's very safe, easy to clean and silent. All my hammies now have one.

Re: Good wheel for a tiny Robo?
My robo (like most dwarf hams I’ve had) pee’d in his wheel so anclosed front one would have been a pain to clean. I got a silent spinner for him and tried a flying saucer too (which I ended up putting in his play tub). As both of those spun a lot more freely than his original wheel he used to go flying off the first few times of using them but he soon got used to them. And it didn’t seem to bother him either as he’d get straight back on. I just made sure there was nothing hard where he was ending up so he’d have soft landing.
