Exclamation Spot cleaning a dwarf?

Hi I've recently gotten my first dwarf and unlike Syrians they seem to just poo and pee wherever and I'm finding it impossible to spot clean as I've no idea where he's peeing any ideas or tips you can give me?

Unfortunately he's in the cage with kaytee clean and cosy in the colour brown so it's even harder to see where he goes

I've only had a robo dwarf, but I wouldn't worry about it too much If you can't smell it then don't worry! They pee such tiny amounts it probably mostly evaporates. With our robo I didn't actually spot clean as couldn't tell where he was going - so I would semi clean one half of the cage at a time and leave the other half (so he always had somewhere familiar smelling). By semi clean I mean going through the substrate and replacing some of it and mixing it in. So I'd do the left hand side of the cage - then 2 or 3 weeks later I'd do the right hand side. But really you can leave it quite a long time if it isn't actually smelly!

They will sometimes use a litter tray with sand in, if you put it inside a large house. Don't worry about poops either unless they start taking over, then spot clean a bit.

I have the same problem with my hybrid dwarf. He uses one spot mainly for pooping, but I can’t find where he pees... One spot he pees in for sure is his wheel. Every morning I can tell he’s peed in it, so I clean it once a day. I’ve also found pee in his paper towel tunnel. Other than that, nada.

So I spot clean his poop corner, his tunnel, his wheel every day and I get rid of some of the bedding that’s on top.

I put scott towel squares in all four corners, in the hope that it will absorb the pee, but they are never soiled. He doesn’t seem to pee in his sand bath either. What a mystery...

If you test the hamster with different types of bedding in a corner they sometimes only go there, as they decide that that bedding is more suitable as a toilet, e.g. My hamster uses chinchilla sand.
