Default Ikea Detolf and Dwarf Hamster?

Hi I've been considering another hamster after my last one died and I'm thinking about a Dwarf of some sort(:

I own an Ikea Detolf and I was wondering if I'll need to put the top on the cage? There's nothing that a dwarf could use to even get anywhere near the top but I'm wondering if that's safe?
Has anyone done it before?

I got the idea from a YouTube video.
I'd assume it would be fine because there's no way it could get up to the top as nothing is tall enough to use to get up that high as I'm planning for a dwarf the cage has smaller wheel and accessories (:

Any advice appreciated

I personally wouldn't risk it. There's not really any benefit to NOT having a lid, especially if you already have one and you are still taking a risk.

Everyone I know who has a Detolf for a dwarf recommends using a top.

My new Robo hamster is very nervous when the lid of her tank is off. I suppose it's too open for her to be comfortable, so you might have problems with a very nervous hamster in a tank with no lid.

I have a dwarf in a detolf and I would definitely recommend a lid, as has been said before, there's no benefit to not having one and you might be surprised by the lengths your ham will go to to explore every possible part of the cage. Mine likes to pile her bedding, for example, and can make piles deep enough that escape is suddenly not such an impossibility, however unlikely it may be.
