Question. I gave lots of substrate (16 cm) for my Robo but he is not burrowing at all. (i've had him for 3 weeks), should i put tunnels in his substrate?

I wouldn't because of aforementioned reasons and he will make his own if he wants to.
Not all hamsters burrow. My Syrian doesn't.

He might not be burrowing because he has the wrong type or his cage isnt set up the way he might prefer. I've had my syrian for a few months and I've switched out his bedding from aspen chips to carefresh. My syrian burrowed from the little log that is protruding from the bedding.

Maybe you are correct and i would change the bedding but in my country nobody is obligated to list ingredients on bedding. I went to several big pet-stores and none of the bedding listed ingredients.... It's so sad that the hamster care in Romania is so bad.
