Upgrade querie

I have ordered the Savic Sky Metro for Percy the Dwarf Hybrid who currently lives in a home made 70cmx40cm bin cage.
Percy is an adopted, approx 6 mths old hamster who is not tame and bites.
He now comes to the meshed front window looking for treats when i call him while he's out. He has built a tunnel system with a number of entrances which for me are all positives signs.

I need the input and opinions from experienced people, please because i'm still fairly new to the world of dwarves.

Should i rehouse him in the bigger cage next week as planned or should i wait and keep him in the small one? I know there's not always a clear answer regarding cages but i'm so undecided at the moment.

Wheels: i want to get him the wheel my other two hamsters have for his new cage because they are really good ones but which size for a russian dwarf hybrid?

The 7in my Robo happily uses or the 10in my Syrian has in his Alaska?

I'd leave him for now. He sounds settled and starting to come out of his shell if he is coming to the bars now. A new more open set up would shake his confidence and stress him in my opinion. My ww runs flat on a 7in wheel and it seems fine for him. Unless he is a huge hamster or very wide then I think the smaller one will be OK. Just check the width as some hybrids can be quite round. We do find that dwarf hammies prefer digging and foraging to wheeling!

Thank you for your advice souffle. I really appreciate it. It will take me a few days "to get the feel" for the new cage and ideas about setting it up to suit Percy's needs. I'm planning to put substrate and some new things plus maybe some food in the base then sit the base in the playpen so Percy can explore and scent it. Then add the wire top and wheel with the door open and still within the playpen so Percy can get familiar with it and hopefully he'll get to like it.
By that time a clean out of his bin cage will be needed anyway which could be a good time for the move including all his things from the bin cage.
