Looks great Serendipity. I love all your wooden items and how you have a tube hanging with the 2 sputniks either end.

Thank you Luna! I actually watched your video for setting up this cage to get some tips It looked easy on your video and loved the ideas. All I did in the end was recreate a similar set up I had had in the Barney cage for our first Syrian, with the roof tube/roof run from one side to the other shelf.

The second sputnik at the back was a desperate afterthought! I was supposed to have a shelf there but gave up trying to fix a shelf to the back wall. I did try with the cage top off but had had enough by then! That end of the tube should be resting nicely on a shelf.

Because I have the sputnik there instead, I then needed a ramp up to the sputnik as it's too high above the house - whereas at the other end it is partly over the shelf and not too high really.

Aw, thanks for watching it and glad my video helped. I like the idea of the 2 sputniks. I'm going to remember that one for if I ever adopt any younger, more agile hamsters in the future. Mind you in saying that, Star would probably be up for it if I gave her half the chance, but she would also fling herself off with no thought for her own safety. She somersaults a lot!

I look forward to seeing and hearing more about Moo (I really do love that name).

At first I found sputniks were ignored with our first hamster but I started putting a treat in them and along the tube and he soon got in the habit of using them. I often found him basking in it in the middle of the night. I put a circle of hemp mat inside so they're not so big or cold and plasticky. Some people put bedding in them. Yes that is an issue - jumping out. I try and have one side/hole over a shelf, another one against the bars and the third one over an area of substrate where they can't land on anything - or as in this case - a tube going out of the third one so they can't jump out.

Oo 2 sputniks is a good plan.

Have added 2 big shelves to my watch list ... Exciting.

Keep imagining that I will some how make shelves myself!!! We will see.

Yes I do - see below. The wheel is now the silent runner but otherwise I have not changed it because Maestro is very content.
The treat, when allowed, hangs elsewhere too,
Both Sputniks have a hemp lining inside.

As a follow up I think the Savic plaza is a lovely cage, looks nice and has good front access - nice for interaction and the hamster. But has an annoying design flaw as regards access. Because there is no top door and no other doors, the front door needs to be way bigger- almost the full width of the cage more like the hamster heaven - to be accessible for doing things in the cage and adding things. I find this a bit annoying at times but it still makes a great hamster habitat - good size and seems about the same height as the Barney - not much in it.

Although I love my Savic PLazas for the length of them, if they made a bigger version of the Alaska, that would be better. Big opening on the top and the front. I actually tried to find out who made the alaska and looked for contact details, but couldn't find any.
