Re: Savic Plaza dimensions and review
I'm in Asia and I have not seen exo terra terrariums in pet shops here. Maybe I haven't been looking hard enough! It's hard to see suitably sized cages here, and the ones that are available are very expensive. I've only got bin cages, but I do like looking at all the lovely cage setups online.

Re: Savic Plaza dimensions and review
It’s a pig to set up lol. The front door - the only door - is not that large and with the height, trying to fix anything to the back is almost impossible unless you have extra long arms or two people. Just about got it done but found the Barney much easier to set up. My 19” wide shelf was too wide and needed a bit sawing off plus the corners so it fitted. Took ages trying to fix the wheel to the back. After that it was ok.

i had that problem Serendipity. I fixed it by taking the wired part off, turn it upside down, then attach the wheel. Works as long as you havn't placed any loose things in the cage.

Re: Savic Plaza dimensions and review
Thank you Luna. Yes I remember someone saying it was tricky without a top door. I did have to do that with the wheel. A bit trickier with shelves. Then had to move the wheel to get it in the right position with the top on - nightmare!

When delivering my hamster wheel my postman offered to come inside and help me with mine (but he didn't want to be overstepping the mark), so in the end he said he would put a note thru my mums door saying hamster needed help!!!! Got to love my postmen.

So looking forward to see your set up!
I had considered the Savic when i upgraded Henry but the lack of a top door put me off.
Who is going to move in?! I guess you won't tell us until your new family member has moved in.
This is so exciting!

Re: Savic Plaza dimensions and review
Ok all set up. I have to say I find it much easier to set up the Barney! But it's a nice cage. I actually like not having a top door to make it easier to fix things to the roof - but in this case it needs one - because the front door isn't wide enough to make access easier for fitting things.
So I gave up trying to fix smaller shelves to the back bars - it was just a complete nightmare without two people (one to hold the shelf, one to walk round the back and screw it in). And went with virtually the same set up Charlie had in the Barney.
So one big shelf on the left. That one is 25cm deep and I ordered the 19" width - but had to take about a quarter of an inch off one edge so it fitted the cage. So the shelf is 18.75" or 47.6 cm ish - and fits perfectly now. Plus taking the corners off the shelf so it fits due to the curved inside corners in the cage.
New occupant moved in this evening! Watch for the thread! It's on the bottom shelf - the top shelf is for the Barney cage to stack over it.

Ranchhouse cages on ebay They do good shelves. This is the one I got. You select the width (ie length) in the drop down box. I got the 19" one and cut a quarter of an inch off so it fitted.

Adds to the cost of the cage of course, when the Barney comes with a good shelf already!
The ladder I bought ages ago, can't remember where - amazon.de I think. Hadn't used it before. I thought the raised rungs might be fallen on so stuck bits of hemp mat in between them.
