Little bit of hair loss on wheel
Hi everyone.
One of my campbell/hybrid dwarfs Ronnie (1 year old) has started using his flying saucer more then his upright wheel and I have noticed a little bit of hair on the wheel and a bit of hair loss underneath him. The upright wheel I have is a 9” Silent Runner and Fly N Saucer is 6.5”.
Does anyone have any ideas how to get to him to use the upright one more. I don’t want to upset him by removing the flying saucer, but would that be the right thing to do? He is in a Hamster Heaven so as you guys know, there is not much room to move things around.

Re: Little bit of hair loss on wheel
Removing the flying saucer may temporarily upset him just as any cage setup change would, but it is really important that hamsters use an upright wheel and not a flying saucer type wheel. The flying saucer types are not a replacement for an upright wheel and don't allow for a natural running position.

I totally agree. I just need to find a way to get him to use the upright one more.

Re: Little bit of hair loss on wheel
Just remove the flying saucer and see if he starts using his wheel more, it's the only way you are going to know. Goodluck.
