Re: Cleaning
P/s: Just adding that she does not seem too concerned when I clean out a hide or toy, even though I do this every few days (there's a LOT of poop somehow). She just returns to it like usual or sometimes moves to another hide. I scatter some nesting tissue, a few pieces of fresh food, and a treat inside the hide after cleaning, so maybe she likes it, even. And I don't see her peeing on any of her food, so that's fine.
Yeah, so I was wondering that as long as there is no odor, how long I could leave her cage uncleaned to the extent that it would become unhygienic and unhealthy.
I think a month is my maximum level of tolerance and my human heart panics and forces myself to go ahead and clean half of it. Hoping for some guidance on this - not sure if my human instincts are right or wrong.
It's very interesting and useful to know that some hamsters have a stronger odor than others, I think it makes sense as it varies with humans too.
