DIY - IKEA Linnmon cage for Whiskey!

Hello there again!

A few of you might remember my thread a few weeks ago about my hamster Whiskey who hates my guts.

So since I couldn't make any progress with taming and he still is just not interested in me, I decided to upgrade his cage. So he has at least enough space to live in without much out of cage time. (I did buy him a massive multi chambered house he already seems to enjoy.)

I decided on the IKEA Linnmon cage out of the 100cm table tops since it worked out cheapest in my area. Sadly IKEA doens't stock the Glasholm table top anymore so I had to improvise with a substrate boarder, a wooden door and a sliding glass door. We decided to keep the bit at the back sticking out because 1. we were to lazy to cut the long piece off of the table top and 2. it makes for a really nice place to put a name tag and pictures.

Whiskey's old cage measured about 3.750 cm² of floor space and the new one comes in at 5.660 cm³ (877 sq inches).

Here are a few pictures of how the cage turned out. (It took us about 5 days in total with building, painting and sealing the edges with aquarium silicone.)
