Natural air purifiers?
Hi everyone! My hamster stays in a small bedroom with me that doesn't have windows (for ventilation, humans use a big fan, and she has a personal fan when there are no humans around).
I am hoping to make the air a little more fresher with some natural air purifiers though! She will be in her bin cage and will not be able to nibble on any of the recommended purifiers.
1. I was thinking of keeping a snake plant (also known as mother-in-law's tongue, viper's bowstring hemp, sansevieria trifasciata ), which purportedly absorbs CO2, benzene, formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene. It is also a plant that is supposed to produce oxygen all day and all night. Anyone ever kept a snake plant in the same enclosed room as their hamster?
Would this be safe?
2. Any other hamster-friendly air purifiers (like a plant, charcoal, vinegar etc)? Prior to that, I have used a humidifier with essential oils, but I have never used it ever since I bought my hamster because I heard that's not good for them.
Please give completely hamster safe suggestions because I am worried about anything that could harm her. She seems fine and healthy now so I would rather not take any risks, but I was just hoping to further improve the air condition, if possible.

Re: Natural air purifiers?
All I know about the air purifiers is it's best not to have an ionising one - that's supposed to make things worse rather than better. And ones with hepa filters are best for removing dusty etc.

Re: Natural air purifiers?
Baking soda, vinegar, and activated charcoal should all work safely, just don't use them in the hamster cage except vinegar for cleaning(which still needs rinsing and preferably some airing out after to keep the scent from irritating the hamster just in case).
Herbs and plants in general can potentially help to purify the air, but not all plants are necessarily safe or appropriate to grow in the same room as a hamster. Not all plants do well indoors either, and a lot of conventionally grown plants such as those from home improvement stores and many plant nurseries and such can still have synthetic fertilizers or be treated with synthetic pesticides which aren't helping your air quality and can be harmful in the long run.
I would personally start with just plain baking soda in a box opened where it can't be accessed by the hamster. It's a tried and true odor eliminator that isn't harmful if used correctly(much less restrictions than something like essential oils), and it's extremely affordable to buy and unlike high quality essential oils for example you can just go into any grocery store and you should find it without having to worry about quality and safety!

Ohh! I didn't know that. Okay, will definitely keep that in mind, thank you!

Yeah, I'd gotten the plant but I didn't dare put it in my room for weeks because I was kinda concerned that it might cause an unforeseen reaction in my hamster. I won't keep the plant in my room then.
Thanks for those tips, they sound great. I'll definitely start with the baking soda as it sounds simple enough. And yep, I don't intend to let my hamster have access to any of those items. <3
