Thanks for the detailed replies Serendipity!

I actually found Tiny Friends Farm to be even dustier than the Argos sand... Even pouring a small amount would raise quite a thick cloud, which was one of the reasons I've decided to move away from it after all. But for all I know this might just be down to different batches or something.

I've seen other people share emails they received after they'd written to them - supreme say it's still sepiolate, and insist they've never changed the formula.

There's a youtube video by TheSmallPetShop called "Is Tiny Friends Farm bathing sand Safe?" which highlights some of the issues and criticisms which have come up recently, if you'd like to have a look!

Again, I don't know how much of a cause for concern any of this presents, but I've seen enough warnings from different sources to err on the side of caution...

Hahaha, I was actually considering going for either Rodipet or Argos, as they were both highly recommended... Good to know I can't win no matter what

Maybe a bad batch it is then... Out of curiosity, did the sand you guys got come in an Argos branded bag as on the website, or was it something called "Chad Valley"?

(It was the latter for me)

In the UK, I use reptile desert sand, with no calcium or dye (P@H).
Minimal dust, had multiple batches and both syrian and dwarf hamster loves it.
I figured if there from the desert originally then, why not, if it's just sand no additives.
It's not too fine like dust either. Buy it when they have a "buy one got one half price"
