Thought I had posted a link, whoops!

Thank you! It felt a bit cobbled together at the end so part of me wants to do another one to get it perfect I will live vicariously through your planning!

Re: DIY cage in progress - MISTAKES
Ah yes, I was looking at these.
I'm planning on making a fairly big cage (my current chipboard dimensions are 100cm(L)x60cm(D)x50cm(H) so I would need two of those melamine boards. The pockets keep getting deeper!

Re: DIY cage in progress - MISTAKES
AND you could pay an extra £8 or so and have a 1250mm long cage with the 2500mm and 2000mm lengths to choose between
(This is why I am so poor this month don't listen to me)

Re: DIY cage in progress - MISTAKES
The Eco Habitat is extremely expensive. It is lovely though if you wanted to see in at all sides. You could price up perspex for three sides of a diy cage and compare maybe. Perspex can be expensive though. You could actually get a glass tank with a lid made, to your own size specifications, for less than the cost of the large eco habitat. Junglepets make them. But you may not want a glass tank.
I may have missed the point but why not just do the standard Linmon cage from the video? Did you want it bigger than that? The Germans use the Ikea Pax melamine wardrobes for their diy cages

When I initially visited Ikea with the thought of building a diy linnmon, they didn't stock the hemnes glass top and I thought the linnmon boards themselves were a bit chunky and not made of very sturdy material.
I then found a glass shelf there with different dimensions which inspired me to create an alternative.
I wanted to repurpose the chipboard just to recycle waste (it was an old wardrobe) and keep costs down.
BUT.. I have just checked Ikea's website and they are stocking the hemnes glass once again!
Perhaps I should opt for that!
I have wasted about £30 on redundant items now (and i'm a fool for overexcitedly opening things before I need them and throwing away receipts!! )

Done that myself I am sure you could use them for something else though. The Linmon boards do look a bit chunky but it's a very easy option - I think they look fine

Re: DIY cage in progress - MISTAKES
If you have the measurements of the Linmon table top you could just get less thick formica board cut at B&Q - it is very cheap stuff. We have it as temporary worktops in the kitchen (been temporary for far too long!)

Re: DIY cage in progress - MISTAKES
I've just watched the Linmon cage video - the paint is for the outside right? With melamine board there is no need to paint - it has melamine on both sides

The paint was initially bought to cover the chipboard but if I do go ahead with the Linnmon, I can certainly use what I have left for the outside.
I also just rooted through the bin ( ) and found receipts for the glass shelf (£12) and L brackets (£6)
Recouping slowly but surely
