Default Help my wheel

I recently just ordered the 10 inch silent spinner because it was one of the only suitable wheels for a syrian hamster that I could find. Now doing more research I see it may have a few design flaws. I got to doing some research and found this video if someone could be super amazing and take a look at it to see if it’s realistic or just super dumb that would be amazing. Thank you so much and would this actually work for my wheel? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MXUTu-4z4tc

Looks complicated! TBH I would send it back and get a different wheel - silent Spinners are known for having spinning issues! I realise the choice in Canada isn't huge, but a wodent wheel is a much safer bet, will last a lot longer and won't have any spinning issues.

You might also be able to the get the Carolina Storm wheel but it's expensive. That is a silent wheel and height adjustable and also 10" - but the wodent wheels are virtually silent and a cheaper option, plus 11" is better really. The 11" wodent wheel is also quite compact and fits in cages well.

Exotic nutrition ship the wodent wheel to Canada.

Default Good wheel

Has anyone used the 10 inch silent spinner? Does it work? Is there a lot of issues with it? Should I return it? Any other good wheels in canada?

Thank you so much I looked at the wodent wheel and it’s only around $20 but shipping is almost $30 so i’m not sure

Default What wheel

Would you recommend the Wodent wheel 11” or the comfort wheel 12” for a syrian hamster?

I’d choose the Wodent Wheel. The Comfort wheel isn’t as well made and I’ve heard it can be quite noisy.

As for the 10” Silent Spinner, a lot of American hammie owners and breeder use it without any issues but I know a few people have had a problem with the back breaking off where it attaches to the stand

$50 including shipping is a lot for a wodent wheel. If the 10" Silent spinner is the only wheel available where you are then maybe take a punt on it and be prepared to do one of the adaptations. Although if adapting it means buying bits and pieces, that could be expensive too, especially if it doesn't work out.

You can get the Carolina Storm Wheel in Canada It isn't cheap - $45. But it's height adjustable and 10.5" diameter. Also silent and supposed to be well-made and sturdy.

Strongbrew Hamster in Canada also make their own Bucket Wheels Which I have seen recommended. They cost $40.

The bucket wheels have a really nice solid running surface.

Hi there! Looks rather complicated tbh... I'd tend to agree with Serendipity, and say try another wheel. The Kaytee comfort wheel unfortunately gave me many sleepless nights and drove me to distraction through 2 walls...!! I'd say if budget and shipping availability allows, the best wheel by far for a Syrian is the Karlie Wonderland 12" cork lined wheel (the Trixie 12" wooden cork lined wheel is also equivalent I believe). It's literally been a life changer for my Syrian girl maisie, who absolutely loves it! It's totally silent, it has a large steady base, and moves very smoothly, so Syrians especially can run properly in a correct posture with no risk of strain on any part of their body due to tilt/wobble/size restrictions. I'd definitely say go with the cork lined ones though and seal them with a non-toxic sealant (to make cleaning easier), as the wheels with wooden grip strips can be rather tough on some hamsters feet and cause some bumble foot unless they're very very smoothly finished. Hope that helps!
