| glass tanks, to paint or not to paint? I am thinking of putting a hammy in my 3ftx1ftx2ft tank.
I would like to have a natural looking set up.
The tank was previously used by fish and the back is painted blue. I was thinking of scrubbing it off and repainting it in a pale brown, with the stand being painted in a dark brown.
What do you think?

| Re: glass tanks, to paint or not to paint? As long as the paint is child-safe and non-toxic I think that would be ok... but what about scrubbing off the paint and sticking some wallpaper/wrapping paper to the outside back of the tank? I have seen some people do that and it looks really cool and you could change it whenever you wanted

| Re: glass tanks, to paint or not to paint? I paint the back, on the outside, so the hammy will not come into contact with it. I have never really had much luck with background papers, hence why I paint it.

| Re: glass tanks, to paint or not to paint? I painted the back of a tank once, and it really turned out nice. There are many types of paints, and you should have no problems finding safe ones to us. Of course wallpaper it would be cheaper, but painting is more satisfying.

| Re: glass tanks, to paint or not to paint? Sounds like a good idea as long as you use a paint that's safe. I'd love to see pics once it's done |
