Savic Ruffy 2 - a question on hamster species
Currently our Savic Ruffy 2 is not in use as we upgraded to the slightly bigger Savic Plaza for our current Syrian hamster, Tali.
We would love to adopt another hamster in time, I wondered if the Savic Ruffy 2 is only suitable for Syrian hamsters due to the size of gap between the bar's?. Or can the Ruffy house other species of hamster?
I thought about this whilst at Pets at Home today, we always look at the animals in the adoption area - there are often other species of hamsters up for adoption, I hope the Ruffy 2 could be of use giving a home to a smaller hamster.

I believe people do use cages like that with 1cm bar spacing for dwarf hamsters. It's not too high either. Personally I wouldn't use it for a robo though.

Thanks Serendipity. That's useful to know that Savic Ruffy could house a dwarf hamster.
I had a feeling that Roborovsky hamster would be too small, I imagine they could possibly squeeze through the bar gap's as they are very tiny !

Re: Savic Ruffy 2 - a question on hamster species
I’ve used the Ruffy 2 for Russian dwarfs and an adult robo. I wouldnt keep a baby robo in the Ruffy but an adult woud be okay. I imagine its fine for Chinese hamsters as well, though I’ve never had one.

Re: Savic Ruffy 2 - a question on hamster species
I have used cages with 1cm bar spacing for baby robos with no issues. They didnt seem at all interested in trying to squeeze out.

That's useful to know alpacassei and flowerfairy that you have experience with this cage and other cages with same bar size. Thank you.
