Silent Runner wide?
I've luckily found a silent runner wide wheel and am just wondering if it's too hard for the hamster to push around. I know 13" is a bit of a stretch and am just thinking if this 12" wide wheel is easy for a Syrian to use?

Re: Silent Runner wide?
I think it's too big - it's the same depth as the Wobust wheel. It's for hedgehogs etc I think.

Re: Silent Runner wide?
I’ve seen dwarfs use it just fine so no problem for a Syrian. Unless your cage is on the larger side maybe stick with the regular that takes up less room.

Re: Silent Runner wide?
I think I'll buy it and hope for the best. If it doesn't work out she can have my DIY wheel until I find a better one. Mangoandmimi, this wheel is for my current Syrian in a 115cm by a 70cm cage so it's fairly big. For my next Syrian (adopting in a few weeks) I'll be getting the 28cm Trixie wooden wheel and varnishing it

Re: Silent Runner wide?
Did you try emailing Barum Bazaar to see if they have the standard ones? That's the ebay seller I got mine from. If you have plenty of space for the big one to fit then yes it can be used by a Syrian - I just found the wobust wheel (same dimensions) absolutely massive and overkill. I'm sure your hammy will enjoy it.

I'll email them and am still scouring websites for them as they seem to have past all the highest quality small pet wheels like silent spinners and flying saucers.

Re: Silent Runner wide?
I remembered that Rodipet were selling the Silent Runner as well - but seems they have stopped selling it now too! If your hammy is wheel-less at the moment, could you just get a cheap basic wheel like the Trixie for now until the silent runner arrives or comes back in stock? Could be useful for out of cage time in the future as well. Even if you get the deeper one, assume it would take a while to come? Is it a Uk seller?

Re: Silent Runner wide?
The wheel comes with the normal track & the sandy track is sold as an extra, not something you want btw.
The regular 12" is out of stock there too, they only have the wide one which would be ok although takes up more room in the cage which could be a pain, I noticed you looking at a couple of US sites which may or may not ship to the UK, if they do it will be expensive & you may have to pay tax & custom duties on top of that so really not worth it unless you're desperate! If you want to buy from the US it would make sense to go to exotic nutrition who make the wheels.
If you have a wheel that works even if it's not ideal I would just be patient for a bit longer & wait for the 12" to come back into stock in the UK.

I can't remember what the problem was with the Silent runner that Rodipet & people on the German forum seemed to have, nothing thatI've come across in the UK but apparently there was something they weren't happy with which is why Rodipet stopped selling it.

Re: Silent Runner wide?
Cypher is right, the shipping cost can be high from the US and on top of that you may get stung for import duties in the Uk. That happened to be once when I bought something from the US on ebay and the UK postal service wouldn't deliver it until I paid another £36 in import taxes! It was an expensive mistake!
The shipping to the Uk from Exotic Nutrition themselves is $66 dollars on top of the cost of the wheel - a total of $88.89 - about £78.
It probably does just mean being patient and getting something else meanwhile - the reason it's hard to find in the Uk is the Uk sellers import it from the US. So the main supplier in the Uk is the sugarglider shop. I expect they are waiting for stock after the quiet patch over Christmas and New Year - everything tends to be out of stock in January because of that.
It's a pain - same thing happened to me when I decided to get the Alexander cage - it was out of stock for ages. Where did you see the larger silent runner in stock? The green one?
The two best wheels really are the wood Trixie wheel and the Silent Runner. Both are silent and run really well. And the Trixie wheel is only about £9. But can quite understand you wanting a Silent Runner. Meanwhile if your hammy urgently needs a wheel it would be best to just get something quickly and then change to the silent runner later.
Amazon do next day delivery on the plastic trixie wheel which is £8.99 and I'm sure if you add a note on your order that says "anything but pink" they will oblige! I found the trixie flying saucer was a good stop gap until I could get a wheel sorted and that was next day delivery too. And I still use it for out of cage time.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-Exer...s=trixie+wheel
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Trixie-Runn...e+running+disc
I can't even find the wide silent runner for sale anywhere in the Uk. It seems everyone is out of stock of silent runners at the moment.

Re: Silent Runner wide?
Yeah as well as potential customs, delivery takes ages so it’s not worth it.
Sugar glider shop says they’re expecting them back in stock before the end of this week so it’ll only be a few days.
Black inky eyes large eco habitat is also back discounted if you were still considering it, about £160 with the zooplus discount.
