Default Tiny Friends Farm Bathing Sand?

In the past, I always used this sand and had no problems. However, since I left the hamster community about a year ago I've heard that they changed the formula and now it is deadly?

Some people say that their hamsters have even died from this!? If this sand isn't safe, can you recommend any particular brands as I don't know where else to look?

Yes they have changed the formula, no it's not deadly!
The colour has changed & some people seem to have found it dustier, can\t say that I have tbh, I don't particularly like the new sand & have changed to the Rodipet sand but my hams weren't bothered by the change to tiny friends farm sand at all, I'm still using some of what I have left too, it's been quite a while since the change & it hasn't harmed my hams at all.

ETA I forgot to say if you want a cheaper alternative you can use childrens play sand, just bake it in the oven to dry it.

My robo hated the new sand and I did find it dusty, not that I noticed it at first. I use the same sand as cypher now and it’s better - don’t know why they’ve called it dust because it isn’t, it’s perfectly fine to use.

Some people have found new formula is dusty and some people are even saying that its pure clay dust and its killed their hamsters. Personally when i used the new version i just found it to be slightly less soft and a grey colour. It seems to only be the American one that people have serious issues with so I wonder if theres a difference between the UK and US products?

I use play sand for my hamsters. Buying hamster sand gets pretty expensive with 6 hammies Ut needs drying out before use, the oven is ghe fastest optipn. Drying it in the oven will also kill any bacteria but most childrens play sands are already sanitised.

Did you mean the Rodipet one? I noticed that, it's just bad translation.
Badesand means bath sand not dust!

Yes the rodipet one, rather misleading!

Rodipet delivery seems to have gone up a bit though, I have also used vitakraft sandy chinchilla which you can get in 1kg from the range where it is quite affordable if that is near you, and it was virtually the same as the rodipet sand, couldn’t tell the difference really.

I've recently had a friend ask is the old Supreme Science Bathing Sand safe?
Thanks for the advice everyone, I'm still deciding but probably going to get children's play sand as you can get it in bulk.

I have the argos play sand and it’s super soft and 100% dust free. I think it was like £5 for 15kg?? I bought it around August and I still have a quarter left, and that’s with multiple Russian dwarfs and a robo!

Thank you alpacassei!!!

I was searching everywhere for safe sands because I was realising certain brands were adding stuff that I was sceptical about. However, I never thought to look at Argos so thanks for the confirmation!

I literally just watched the youtube video where someone was warning against using this sand. I've used it ever since I got my hamsters last October and haven't experienced any problems. They seem to like it and bathe in it every day. Its still got me worried though, perhaps I should change to a different one just to be on the safe side?

Does anyone know if this one is OK? Desert Sand
