Post The Best Silent Hamster Wheel?

I want a wheel that is as silent as you can get, what has been your experience with silent wheels? I have seriously considered the flying saucer wheel, but would prefer a proper wheel for my hamster!
thanks

Yes you’ll need an upright wheel - those saucers are not silent either they can get quite rattly and take up a lot of space in a cage.
I like open wooden wheels, they run on ball bearings and the open design means any food deposited inside doesn’t rattle around forever, it’ll fall out. The trixie ones are generally good and the rodipet ones are more expensive but guaranteed better quality. The cork lined ones - they’ll need a couple layers of plastikote to protect against peeing in the wheel.
Otherwise, plastic enclosed ones are fine, silent runners are very nice, also a ball bearing design. Wodent wheels have a spindle so not entirely silent but are definitely quiet, either of those would be fine. Being plastic you can take them apart and clean the track easier if they’re being used as a toilet, so there are benefits to both open and closed to be honest.
You’ll want the 8-9 inch for a dwarf and the 11-12 inch for a Syrian

I would recommend the silent runner, lots of people use them, 12" for a Syrian or 9" for a dwarf ham, they are expensive but very good quality & silent.

Silent wheels: The Silent Runner (not spinner), the Trixie wood wheel with cork running surface. Both have ball bearings.

If you're in the US - the Silent Runner again (NOT the silent "spinner") which is sold by the manufacturers, Exotic Nutrition and cheaper in the US than the Uk. Or the Carolina Storm Wheel - they have their own website. That is a 10" diameter bucket wheel with height adjustable stand - but quite expensive.

All of those are totally silent due to the ball bearings. All you hear is a slight patter of feet (if your hearing is good!). Although nothing can stop your hamster putting food in the wheel and it clattering round in the wheel all night! But no rattles, squeels etc from the wheel.

Thank you for all your responses, the silent runner certainly does look like the best option available, much better than a flying saucer. Thanks
