Best Sealant for Detolf?
So recently I learned that with the Ikea Detolf cage you need to line the end edges with aquarium/non-toxic silicone in order to stop the glass from breaking from the pressure of the bedding.
However, others say that they have no problems or the bars do this job. Just after other people's experiences.
I'm probably going to put the sealant on just to be safe but I'm wondering is it better to put the silicone on the inside or outside of the cage. Also just thinking if the one I have in mind is ok. The Aquamate sealant is this safe? Thanks.

Re: Best Sealant for Detolf?
Aquamate sealant is the silicone sealant I used for my DIY cage - I have it on the inside of my cage and the 3 hamster that have lived in this cage since I built it haven’t even had any interest in chewing it.
I don’t have a detolf so can’t offer any advice on that front - but if it was me I would seal all the edge anyways.

Thanks for the confirmation just wanted to make sure it was safe.
How long did you leave yours to cure?

Re: Best Sealant for Detolf?
I can’t remember exactly how long I left the silocne sealant to cure but I believe it was for a minimum of 48 hours.
