Default Trixie wheel hamster, too big?

My current wheel is starting to be really noisy and the join between the plastic looks knackered.
My friend has a spare Trixie wheel, however it is the large one and I have a dwarf hamster.
It would fit in her Alaska cage but would it be too big for her or dangerous somehow?
She is really strong so I think she'd be able to turn it.

I think it would be fine as a stop gap and see how she goes. A good wheel for a dwarf hamster is the 9” silent runner wheel which is very safe and sturdy, spins very easily and totally silent. They’re not cheap but well made. Had my 12” one about two and a half years now and no issues. Used by two hamsters. The only thing to note is not to submerge the ball bearing bit in water when cleaning so they last a long time.

Agree it’s fine to see how it goes - dwarf hams can often turn that sized wheel just fine, even if it is enormous. Obviously it depends on their size but if yours is strong it should be ok. Only thing is it’ll take up extra room in the cage which isn’t ideal imo but otherwise not a problem. The silent runner would be a good investment as mentioned, it’s a really good quality wheel.

I’ve used the 28cm Trixie wheel as a temporary wheel for one of my Russian’s and she was fine with it. She wasn’t quite as fast on it as she was on her usual wheel, I’m assuming because of the extra weight of it.

I use the P@H 17cm Silent Spinner wheel, I’ve never had issues with mine but some of the recent reviews on theur site suggest the quality’s gone down

I'll give her a go with the big wheel, friends offered it for £5.
She currently has the 6.5 inch p@h wheel and it's the join between the two plastics of the wheel that's getting loose.

6.5” isn’t big enough for most adult dwarfs so she’ll actually be better off with the big wheel. I really wouldn’t go smaller than 8” in the future.

I’ve found it big enough for most my Russians, with the exception of one very big man ham (he was almost the length of my hand, not exaggerating). I suppose with hybrids, size varies alot because the poor genetics

I would say it worth a try to see if he can use the 11” Trixie wheel. It should be safe to use as unlike smaller wheel they can’t run as quick so are less likely to be flipped out.
Although I say a 8” wheel is the perfect size for a Russian.

I think the 11" wheel would probably be fine, it certainly shouldn't be dangerous, all mine use 9" wheels with no problem even as babies so it might well be fine for a fully grown ham.

** Update**
Got the wheel for her and she likes it.
Initially nibbled it then worked out it would move then ran for a while.
Attached it to the side of her cage, saves space.
Plenty of space, been an Alaska cage she's in.
