Torn between two cages...
Hi all
I know this probably going to be largely a matter of opinion but I went off the bin cage idea and flirted with the Alaska until reading some quite negative reviews and now I'm torn between a Ferplast Maxi Duna Multy and a Ferplast Barney. There's not much difference in price or size, just design so....
Does anyone own either of these cages (or both)? And have you any advice? Pros/cons? Anything I should know before I order one this evening?
Many thanks in advance!

Re: Torn between two cages...
You mean the Barney from Zooplus? Well one is a tank style and the other a cage. Height is very different too. Is it for a Syrian or a dwarf? The maxi dubs looks lovely and I have been tempted with a number of nice looking tank style cages but have found I prefer cages - I prefer to have a front access door and attach things to roof and bars. If it was for acAyrian I’d say go with the Barney. But I’ll throw something else into the mix as I think the Slavic Hamster plaza is a great cage. Has a big front opening door like the Alaska and hamster heaven. Costs more than the Barney but less than the maxi duna.
Pets at home sell it if you google it. It needs a house but do do some of the other cages.

I love the front door on the Plaza after having a look but after much deliberation I've opted for the Maxi Duna Multi after all.
I spoke to my mum and she reminded me about an old tank style cage we had years ago and I remembered it being really good do I've stuck with that style.
My Dad said he'll make a little freestanding platform or two for it if I like. I'll see how it looks once it's arrived next week and I've had a think about the set up.
Thanks for your advice. If I was more into bars the Plaza would be a definite choice now I've seen it!

Re: Torn between two cages...
I have kept both syrians and dwarves in the maxi duna multy and it is a really good cage.
I had to have the wheel directly on the floor of the cage for my syrian. It was a wooden wheel from zooplus. I kept the substrate (fitch) away from the wheel by using bendy bridges as fencing!
Good luck. It would be great to see pics once you have the cage and set it up.

Re: Torn between two cages...
I don’t have the Maxi Duna Multy but I have the Duna Multy Fun (Multy with platforms and tubes) and Mini Duna Fun (which I use for nervous or older hammies). The Dunas are amazing cages! I love the deep bases and large top doors. I wish they would make a platform for the Maxi Duna though.

Re: Torn between two cages...
It’s a lovely cage and if you prefer that style then that’s the way to go. It can be set up very well for a syrian and your Dad’s platforms sound good
